How to Enjoy Unwinding
What do you do to unwind after a long day of work?

My favorite activity has always been watching TV. I love being entertained with a good comedy or drama where I don’t have to think much and just sit back and let the story unfold.
The next question is important...how do you feel when you unwind from work?
I used to find myself sitting on the couch watching TV feeling anxious or guilty. I’d be anxious going over what happened at work that day in my mind or thinking of all the things I needed to do the next day. Even worse, I’d feel guilty thinking about what I should be doing around the house instead of sitting on the couch watching TV!
I wasn’t able to unwind! I couldn’t relax and refuel for the next day. When I didn’t enjoy my time doing the things I wanted in my off time, I began to resent work time more and more each day. It became a daily grind with no light at the end of the tunnel!

Schedule it on your calendar! Stay with me here, I’m sure you’re thinking I’m crazy! But, it’s true. Putting it on your calendar allows you to be intentional about it. If it’s scheduled, when the time comes, you will think something like, “It’s time to unwind”, which creates a positive feeling like content or pleasure. This is what we want to be feeling after a long day of work. The more you can be intentional about your actions, the more you can feel good about what you’re doing!
